Roane County Release Date Meanings
A release date can name several different milestones. In TDOC Felony Offender Information Lookup, or FOIL, the public fields are Release Eligibility Date and Sentence End Date. Release Eligibility Date, often shortened to RED, marks the point when the applicable release process may become available under the sentence calculation. It is not a promise of parole and not a scheduled gate appointment. Sentence End Date is also not always the physical exit date. Credits, later orders, consecutive terms, detainers, and approved release plans can change what follows.
The Roane County Detention Facility serves a different population. Someone held before trial has no computed sentence-release date. Bond, recognizance, dismissal, a later court order, or transfer may end that jail stay. A locally sentenced person can have a jail calculation, while a person sentenced to TDOC may remain in the county jail until transport. Disappearance from the county's current Inmate Confinements screen does not reveal which event occurred.

Find a Roane County Release Date

FOIL warns about accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. For exact cause, terms, date, destination, or sentence computation, use the TDOC archived-record request or its public-records portal. TDOC Records Management asks for the offender's full name, TOMIS number, date of birth, and a clear description of the record sought.
Roane County Release Credit Rules
Roane County readers must keep two credit systems apart. A TDOC felony computation uses the offense-date and sentence-specific framework in Tennessee Code §§ 40-35-501 and 41-21-236. Covered county-jail or workhouse confinement uses the separate one-quarter good-behavior provision in § 41-2-111(b). Neither provision creates a safe public calculator, and neither should be applied without the judgment and official computation.
Under § 41-21-236, an eligible incarcerated person may earn from one through sixteen sentence-reduction days per month, including credit for good institutional behavior and satisfactory program performance. Credits must be earned and retained. Eligibility, classification, exclusions, offense date, and disciplinary action affect the result. The official calculation, not arithmetic from a public sentence length, determines the field shown by TDOC.

For covered local confinement, § 41-2-111(b) provides a one-quarter deduction for good behavior in qualifying circumstances, subject to its terms and possible revocation through disciplinary process. Tennessee Release Eligibility in Roane
Tennessee does not have one rule that every person serves 85 percent. Section 40-35-501 contains different frameworks based on the offense, offense date, sentence range, and other legal facts. Some historical violent-offense provisions require 100 percent less allowed credits but impose an 85 percent floor. For listed offenses committed on or after July 1, 2022, subsection (bb) requires 100 percent of the sentence without sentence-reduction credits reducing the term. Why Roane County Release Dates Change
A displayed date may move because the facts inside the official computation changed. It may also stay the same while the physical release is delayed by a separate legal or operational step. The reason should come from the sentence record, court order, Board decision, or custodial agency rather than from speculation.

A person can reach RED and remain incarcerated. Someone else can leave the Roane jail before sentence end through bond, probation, parole, transfer, or another lawful order. In both cases, the physical event and the sentence milestone are separate facts.
Confirm Roane County Actual Release
For a county-jail episode, request the booking and confinement record from the Roane County Sheriff's records route. For state custody, request the release authorization or certificate, actual release type, computation, discharge cause and terms, and any transfer or detainer information. The Board decision is needed when parole applies. A Board grant may still be followed by plan approval and TDOC release processing, so the decision date is not the departure date.
