Search Roane County VINELink

A missing result has many possible causes. The name may differ, the event may not have reached the system, the source may not participate for that record, or the display may not retain the older event. Online silence does not establish release or absence from custody.
When more than one match appears, compare the reporting agency before relying on age or spelling alone. Roane County custody should connect to the county facility record, while a TDOC entry reflects state custody or supervision. The same person can move between systems, so two records may describe different stages rather than a duplicate. “Released” means that the reporting source recorded a release or custody-change event. It does not prove unconditional freedom. A detainer, another jail, a new booking, parole, probation, or an agency outside the record may still control the person's status. “Transfer” is clearer: custody moved rather than ended.

TDOC's VINE description says notifications are free and confidential. Registration does not guarantee that every type of event will be sent, and the interface can change. Read the live options for the chosen record and retain the confirmation so support can trace a problem.
Note: Register only after matching the right person and facility, since a notification tied to the wrong record can mislead at a critical time.
Roane Two-Source Release Check
Tennessee VINE is Roane's notification layer. The sheriff's Citizen Connect database is the current-confinement layer. This local division creates a practical two-source method: first find the facility-specific record, then register against the matching VINE record for a future custody event. The two systems answer different questions.
Start with the Roane Inmate Confinements search when the person was last held at the county jail. A current match supports county confinement. Then use VINE to watch for a reported release or transfer. If the person disappears from Citizen Connect, do not infer the result. Check the VINE event and ask the sheriff for the actual transaction.
State materials say many county jails participated in VINE, not all events from all jails. A failed Roane search must lead to the jail call or record request. That limit is especially important for short stays, data timing, name variants, and older events.
Confirm Roane County Release
For a county-jail event, ask the Roane County Sheriff's Office for the named booking and release or transfer record. The office is at 230 North Third Street, Kingston, TN 37763, phone 865-376-5582. Request the actual date and time, disposition, authorization, receiving agency, destination, and any hold or detainer field that exists.

The state records route can document the actual release or discharge event. It does not replace the Roane sheriff record for an earlier county-jail exit.
Roane VINELink Check Limits
VINELink is not the BOP inmate locator. A federal defendant or former federal prisoner must be checked through BOP and the federal court file. An immigration transfer needs the ICE locator only when the Roane record identifies that receiving path. The TBI Sex Offender Registry is also separate and applies only to people with a registration duty.

Data can lag at each handoff. A court order may precede jail processing, and a VINE event may follow the facility transaction. Preserve each timestamp rather than forcing them into one guessed release time. For important facts, the office that created the record provides the final confirmation.
VINE also does not replace a court disposition. A custody alert can say that a facility reported movement, while the court file identifies the bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or later order that authorized it. For a parole release, the Board decision, approved release plan, TDOC authorization, and physical departure are separate milestones. The alert is useful because it is fast, but it should be read as one link in that record chain.
